Corde Smith [Kord] has been in the health and fitness industry for nearly a quarter-century. Being a successful health facility owner in the Northeast, along with several other unrelated businesses simultaneously, He and his wife Naomi were at the top of their game. Together they regularly enjoyed being of help to others, entertaining friends and family, being of service in their local Church, and relishing the fruits of their labor with the worldly-toys success can bring. In May of 2014, it all came to an abrupt halt after his wife’s stage 4-colon cancer diagnosis. Everything they built together over 25 years suddenly became irrelevant. The primary focus was no longer making money; it was now finding a way to save Naomi’s life.

Being at the mercy of conventional medicine, Naomi was now receiving chemotherapy in the hospital and at home. The treatments did not go well, and tumors quickly metastasized. After her decisive final round of chemo, she elected to go natural, but neither of them knew what that really meant or even how to start such a thing. They began intensively reading, researching, and implementing their findings on various cancer protocols. Over the next several months, her condition seemed to improve. With increased energy, less discomfort, and a renewed spirit, Naomi was functioning almost normally.

To help their system work more efficiently, surgery was scheduled for the removal of tumors and damaged areas of the colon. The operation removed too much of the colon, so much in fact, that immediately thereafter, the lead surgeon with tears in his eyes made some preliminary statements and finally said, “She will never eat another meal, she’s done.” Naomi was still very much alive, but not strong enough to fully recover from the surgery and was now a candidate for hospice. At this time, they both knew, without a functioning colon, her fate was sealed. The short window of opportunity was now closed, and anything short of a miracle would not save her.

Given only weeks to live, Naomi was now home under hospice care with 24-hour assistance from her best friend and monitored by hospice nurses. For those who don’t know, helping people recover is not the job of hospice; their responsibility is to ensure one dies peacefully. Being well aware of what was to come, Corde continued researching and implementing what he could with the assistance of a private nurse. This was taking place while hospice nurses were on break from the residence. Knowing time was short, they used the time they had left having meaningful conversations, becoming closer than ever before, and even played their favorite card game just days before she died. Although Naomi’s circumstances did not allow her to survive, she did live longer. To the surprise and confusion of hospice, Naomi lived two months longer than expected, due to the implementation of cancer- fighting protocols.

Struggling with the thought, “if only we knew,” Corde believed if they had more time and all of the information before the surgery, his wife would have won this battle. He realized her problem wasn’t just having cancer; the bigger problem was not knowing how to properly address it. “So much valuable time was spent pondering and gathering information.” Through research, he discovered there were multitudes of people desperately searching for answers on how to fight cancer with natural protocols. He believed there was great demand for this knowledge and his duty to dedicate himself to help those faced with this problem.

With information scattered in journals, publications, and all over the Internet, sifting through the noise wasn’t going to be an easy task. To make this possible, Corde knew it couldn’t be a side gig. He would have to decide whether or not to retire from his businesses and fully devote himself to this cause. Corde chose to follow his heart, and for the next three years, doubled down on what he already knew, researching with a more in-depth focus on clinical studies, data from MDs, nutritionists, and naturopathic doctors. It took nearly two additional years to organize the research into this book.
